There will be no Galaxy Note in 2021, more rumors suggest

We've heard from a few places now that Samsung will decommission the Galaxy Note line in 2021 and now that rumor is gaining traction thanks

According to Max Weibnach's information Samsung's flagship lineup for 2021 will include four Galaxy S21 devices - S21, S21+, S21 FE and S21 Ultra - and three Galaxy Z devices - Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3 and Z Fold FE. Three of those seven will have S Pen support, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is a sure bet.

Now, in and of itself that lineup doesn't exclude a Galaxy Note 21 from happening, but the inclusion of S Pen support on non-Note devices points in that direction. Another pointer is the lack of any information about any Galaxy Note development, per Ice Universe.

Of course there's a possible explanation to that theory as well - it's still way too early. But the Fold2 arrived after the Note20 this year, so we doubt that's the case.

Huawei smartphones with Kirin chips are being sold at exorbitant prices: Report

Since the US chip supply ban, it has become hard for someone to buy a Huawei smartphone equipped with a 5G Kirin chipset. And reportedly, the prices of said devices have also surged in the market recently.

According to a new report from GlobalTimes (a Chinese state-run media), the prices of 5G enabled smartphones from the Chinese tech giant have risen. In Beijing’s largest wholesale market, Zhongguancun, of 3C products, the prices of these 5G Huawei devices have risen, with high end flagships like the Huawei Mate 30 Porsche and P40, P40 Pro version being sold for more than 3,000 Yuan (roughly 447 US Dollars) more than their original price that is already a high 2,200 US Dollars.

As per an employee of a mobile store in the Zhongguancun market, the sizeable price hike began more than a month ago. A dealer stated that “Some distributors are stocking up, with prices rising from 100 to 400 yuan on average for all types of Huawei models. In addition, models with different configurations and colors are running out of stock. It is not easy for us to get the phone sets now. It is estimated that the channel price of the phones carrying the Kirin 9000 chip will increase, but the official price will not be raised.”

For those unaware, the Chinese vendor lost its chip supply from TSMC due to US sanctions. Since then, the company has stockpiled on Kirin chips aggressively, while separate reports have shown that other Chinese chipmakers have also seemingly abandoned it after the US deadline. So analysts believe that the shortage of chip supply and loss of Google mobile services support on its devices has put a lot of pressure on the company in the market.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Smartphone Has Serious Problems

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are now official and there’s one big takeaway from their unveiling:

run a mile from the Note 20.

Confirming my fears, in the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Samsung announced its most compelling smartphone of the year but, in the Note 20, its least. Here’s why:

Price – the Note 20 costs $1,000. That’s a premium price, but there’s very little that’s premium about this phone. Such as…

Design - the Note 20 is not just a predictable step back from the Note 20 Ultra, it is a step back from the entry-level Note 10. The Note 20 has thicker bezels on all sides and is the first Note since 2014 not to ship with a glass back, using a polycarbonate plastic chassis instead.

Refresh Rate - every Galaxy S20 shipped with a 120Hz fast refresh rate display, even the Note 10 and Galaxy S10 have the option to enable this. Not so the Note 20, which is stuck at 60Hz. With the $349 Google Pixel 4a offering a 90Hz refresh rate, this is an inexcusable backwards step for a $1,000 outlay.

S Pen - the primary reason to pay so much for a Galaxy Note is its S Pen, but even here the Note 20 is inferior to the Ultra. The former has a 26ms response time, the latter a significantly better 9ms. At least this is one area where the Note 20 does improve on the 2019 Note 10.

Display – jumping from the Note 10’s relatively portable 6.3-inch form factor to a massive 6.7-inch display will polarize opinion, but using two year old Gorilla Glass 5 when the Note 10 uses Gorilla Glass 6 and the Note 20 Ultra uses the latest Gorilla Glass 7 is a slap in the face.

Future Proofing - despite being seen as a major shortcoming in the Note 10, the Note 20 again comes with no

expandable storage. Both the Galaxy Note 10+ and Note 20 Ultra offer this. The Note 20 Ultra also added Ultra wideband (UWB) for super fast file transfers and Samsung has grand plans to use it for improved positional tracking and AR technology. Apple is also betting big on UWB. The Note 20 doesn’t have it

Performance - the Note 10 and Note 10+ both used the same Snapdragon chipset, but the Note 20 gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 when the Note 20 Ultra has an upgraded Snapdragon 865+. The 865 remains a fast chipset, but if Apple can put the same chipset in its $399 iPhone SE as its $1,100 iPhone 11 Pro Max, then Samsung should be offering parity with its sibling for $1,000.

In sum, the Galaxy Note 20 is not a $1,000 smartphone and, in many ways, it is inferior to last year’s Note 10 and Note 10+ – both of which can now be bought for a lot less. Initial reaction to the device also appears to be overwhelmingly negative and it’s hard to understand what Samsung was trying to achieve, especially in a financially restricted, pandemic impacted world.

At $1,299, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is an expensive phone, but if you can afford a $1,000 smartphone chances are you can afford the extra and you’ll be getting a cutting edge device in every respect. In contrast, the Note 20 is a mess. And don’t let the name fool you. This is not a Note 20, it’s outclassed by its predecessor and by all manner of cheaper smartphones already on the market, including the entire Galaxy S20 series.

History won’t remember the Note 20 kindly. With the radical new Galaxy S21 already on the horizon, do yourself a favor and forget it too.

HUAWEI KIRIN 1020 5NM CHIP IS LARGER AND MORE EXPENSIVE THAN APPLE A14

Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, is currently working on its Huawei Mate 40 series.

These smartphones will arrive with Huawei’s upcoming 5nm chip. If all goes according to plan, Huawei Kirin 5nm chip will arrive in September. In addition, the Huawei Mate 40 series will be the first smartphones to use this chip. According to speculations, this chip will be called Huawei Kirin 1020. However, there is no official confirmation of this name.
According to a recent Weibo report from (@手机片达人), the cost of the new 5nm Kirin chip is between Apple A14 and Apple ARM CPU. His statement suggests that the Huawei Kirin 1020 will be more expensive than Apple A14. However, it will be cheaper than Apple ARM CPU. Furthermore, the size of Huawei Kirin 1020 is between the two Apple chips.
However, HiSilicon’s Kirin chip design, chip size, and cost are not the main focus for Huawei. Presently, HiSilicon is not under any pressure to make a profit. Therefore, for products of the same level, the chip size of HiSilicon processors is generally larger than that of MediaTek and Qualcomm.

Not surprisingly, Huawei’s Mate 40 series will launch the 5nm Kirin 1020 chip. This will make this series to be the world’s first smartphone to use a 5nm chip. Since Apple’s 5G iPhones may experience some delay, it is almost certain that Huawei will be the first to use a 5nm chip.

Recent reports claim that all the chips that Huawei needs this year will be available by mid-September. This is irrespective of the manufacturing process (5nm, 7nm, or 16nm, or 28nm). Even HiSilicon’s self-developed TWS headset Bluetooth chip will be ready before mid-September. The delivery of all Huawei chips for this year is proceeding smoothly. Initially, there were reports that Huawei will postpone the mass production of its flagship Mate 40 mobile phone. However, the report has turned out to be false.

Arsenal player has ‘made it known’ he wants exit – Gunners looking for €40m, several sides ‘pressing’

Mattéo Guendouzi has made it known he wants to leave Arsenal this summer, and the Gunners are equally keen to see him leave.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say several of Europe’s biggest sides have already been contacted about a potential move.

Reports in England yesterday revealed that Mikel Arteta had decided to sell the French midfielder after criticising his attitude over the weekend.

That was following an incident in the defeat to Brighton on June 20th, which saw the Guendouzi clashing with striker Neal Maupay amid a poor overall performance from the Gunners.

NOKIA ADDS BROADCOM TO THE LIST OF CUSTOM-MADE 5G CHIPS SUPPLIERS

Nokia has just signed a contract with Broadcom that will bring custom-made 5G chipsets for the smartphone brand. It is the third major company to sign such a deal after Intel and Marvell back in March. Through this contract, the Finnish company will be able to expand its presence in the market and increase shipments. The brand expects 35% of all 5G products to be equipped with this custom-made 5G chip by the end of 2020. Broadcom will be busy in the coming months to ensure Nokia’s demand.

Xiaomi working on a phone with 16GB of RAM

There are only a couple of phones that can be configured with 16GB of RAM, This phones are Huawei, Samsung and Iphone. There isn’t a Xiaomi among them. Not yet anyway,Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Xiaomi, I even wanted one of my son to buy Xiaomi last 2 weeks but He is in love with infinix. I guest he does not know much about phones. The leakster Digital Chat Station teases that (Xiaomi) the company is working on just such a model.

Earlier this year there were murmurs that the new Mi Mix model will have 16GB, but those quieted down. The Mix does make sense though, as that is Xiaomi’s halo series. Alternatively, the Mi 10 Pro was also rumored to have a 16GB option, but that never materialized.

12GB has become pretty common, it’s even available on some fairly affordable models. Samsung started manufacture of 12GB LPDDR5 in July last year, mass production of 16GB packages started in February 2020. However, Xiaomi partnered with rival Micron to source the LPDDR5 chips for the Mi 10 phones. Micron stated that it expects 16GB phones in the second half of this year.

Anyway, we haven’t heard any solid info on when the next Xiaomi Mix might launch, even the Mi Mix Alpha hasn’t launched yet or any other Xiaomi worthy of 16 GB RAM.

Google and it's Featuristic Competitor

Google having Huawei as it's Featuristic Competitor, might result into Google losing some of it's renowned virtues to Huawei.

Huawei has suddenly unveiled a surprise alternative to Google’s search and Play Store, a defiant move against both the blacklist and Google, another targeted attempt to offer a viable full-fat Android and Play Store alternative.

Piece by piece, we have seen Huawei build an ecosystem that it sees as a third-way alternative to Google’s full-fat Android and iOS. Last year, hopes were pinned on the most radical possible option,

This action was a huge acceleration of Huawei mobile Service.
Last year it was like the End of Huawei mobile phone as come.
But the company proof me wrong by a trail of confirmations around replacements for Google apps—like maps, and a revamped AppGallery to replace the Play Store. We have even seen Huawei talk up app security.

Back in March, just ahead of the P40 launch, I reported on pilot testing of two new Huawei apps, “Search” and “AppSearch,” both intended as replacements for Google functionality on Huawei phones. The first to replace core search itself—a major money-spinner for Google, the second to make it easy for users to search for and install popular apps, either from Huawei’s AppGallery or third-party stores.

Well now it’s back—the race against time is on. The renamed “Petal Search” combines both “Search” and “AppSearch” into a single install. “Petal Search puts the world in the palm of your hand,” Huawei says, confirming that users can “search for your favorite phone apps with our
state of the art technology.”

On the search front, Petal Search offers Huawei curated “daily weather forecasts and top news, live sports scores and schedules, video, image, and music searches,” as well as “financial news and stock market updates.”

All that plus the ability to search for and install apps. The biggest issue post-blacklist has been that app installation and Google workarounds have intimidated regular users. The new Petal Search is intended to make everything official and assured. Search for an app like “Instagram” or “Facebook,” and the results will come complete with an install option. If the app is available on the AppGallery, then that’s where it comes from. If not, a third-party app store will be used instead.

U.S. Agree to allow Huawei and U.S. firms to work together on 5G standards - sources

The Commerce Department placed Huawei on its "entity list" last May, citing national security concerns. The listing restricted sales of U.S. goods and technology to the company and raised questions about how U.S. firms could participate in organizations that establish industry standards.

After nearly a year of uncertainty, the department has drafted a new rule to address the issue, two sources told Reuters. The rule, which could still change, essentially allows U.S. companies to participate in standards bodies where Huawei is also a member, the sources said.

The draft is under final review at the Commerce Department and, if cleared, would go to other agencies for approval, the people said. It is unclear how long the full process will take or if another agency will object.
As we approach the year mark, it is very much past time that this be addressed and clarified," said Naomi Wilson, senior director of policy for Asia at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), which represents companies including Amazon.co Inc, Qualcomm Inc and Intel Corp.

The U.S. government wants U.S. companies to remain competitive with Huawei, Wilson said. "But their policies have inadvertently caused U.S. companies to lose their seat at the table to Huawei and others on the entity list."
The rule is only expected to address Huawei, the people familiar with the matter said, not other listed entities like Chinese video surveillance firm Hikvision.
